Guten Sonntag everybody! And Happy Fathers Day Dad!
It's now 3h41pm here on this lovely sunday afternoon, Cori is in the shower and we are about to head over to her sister's in Mannheim to celebrate her birthday. Yesterday was so exciting! First we went to the train station to ask a few questions about various ticket packages to see what was best and where all we could go. ...we are still working on getting this all straightened out. Then we just drove with no destination at all. Yep! We had our own little German road trip! We found this beautiful vineyard and decided to get out and walk around. It makes me so happy, that was one of the things on my list to do before I die, go to a vineyard (what can I say, I'm easy to please.) and we spent some good time there, we ran up and down the hills, collected snail shows to make necklaces out of, found a hidden fort in the woods.... so much fun, and just beautiful. Then we proceeded to drive and Cori took me through all of these "Dörfer"and they are so cute! It's just what you think of when you think of Germany- really adorable villages with rolling hills and winding streets. Cori showed me this really cute little house that she dreams of some day owning because it's just so unique ( pictured below.) After that,Cori had to go to work and I tagged along. Cori goes to concerts and writes reviews\articles for the newspaper about them and this was a local flute concert. At the end of the concert they served mimosa's and pretzel baguettes (which are quite heavenly). Then we were off to another concert\dance in Bobenheim-Roxheim--MAX'S town!!! yep! We met up with Max (our german exchange student from last year,) man, has he gotten tall! but still as sweet as ever. I got to meet his friends, learn some more german... also learn that the word "geil" which I was told meant "awesome," also has another meaning.... not exactly appropriate for my G-rated blog, but of course this has been my word to everything since I learned it and I even said it to Cori's father!! Oh man- I am definitely a foreigner. haha. It's nice too though, because Cori's parents speak french, so we can now communicate that way, but I am still working on german, I am determined to learn it while I'm here. ... Anyways, sorry for that tangeant, back to the concert. I learned how to jump style!!!! haha! So funny! It's like the intense european dance and they get really into it. Axel and Max showed me this old guy dancing
Now tonight Max, Cori and I are going to have a movie night, and looking forward to it. It's weird, because it is sunday, so just about everything is closed. I think I'm going to an outdoor cafe in just a bit and sketch. I've been getting some great inspiration out here, and the weather is absolutely gorgeous- feels just like fall! I love it here, everything about this place, the people, thecity, the life-style... it's exactly how I'd always imagined it to be.
